Hello Friends & Subscribers
& Welcome to a New Week
This week I did something a little different: in addition to writing the update, I recorded a video just talking about the transits this week. I want to start creating more oral/visual content and move towards doing live streams on occasion, and so today was really just an experiment to see how it would feel & it felt alright! I decided I would share the video to see what people thought, so please share your feedback. Do you prefer the written word [of course you do, you’re on substack!] or would you be interested in having avenues to engage with me through video/audio and perhaps even live? <3
I did discover that when I shared my screen, that the video that showed my face disappeared, so I am unfortunately not in most of the video, but you will see me at the beginning and end and the chart for the week during the remainder of it. Warning: there is a lot of silliness happening in the background with my cat so I apologize for the disruption. It’s perhaps even worse considering that you can’t see her jumping around in the background. It is definitely a lo-fi production this week, but let me know what you think!
If you do choose to watch the video instead of reading the newsletter this week, be sure to still check out the Calendar section and La Collectionneuse at the end where I highlight the most incredibly Mercury in Pisces artist - you’re not going to want to miss it!
This week begins upon the settled dust, or in our case here in Portland the settled snow, of last week’s Uranian disruption delivered loudly by the Full Moon in Leo. Last week’s events reminded me that, regardless of the aspects being made in the sky, co-occuring transits can be experienced as interconnected. What I found was that the way that the Full Moon came through for me was partially related to one of my Mars in Cancer story arcs even though the Full Moon did not directly aspect Mars in Cancer [perhaps it snuck in through that sextile to Uranus]. This, to me, is an important observation that can be helpful when considering how these transits may impact us, and a testament to just how loud a stationing Mars Retrograde can be. Additionally, the arrival of snowfall here in Portland disrupted every social plan I had this week thus enclosing me within my home which makes sense upon reflection given that the Full Moon occurred in my 12th house - the house that signifies confinement and isolation. This, however, gave me the opportunity to prioritize assignments and the creative pursuits I mentioned last week which included the completion of an essay on the Aquarian Archetype - just in time for the Sun’s departure from Aquarius, which is the first transit this week.
Aquarius: Reflections on Idealization and Belonging
I began writing this essay on the night of February 9th 2025 with the Sun and Mercury conjunct in the third decan of Aquarius in the shadow of the Leo Full Moon. Pluto occupies the first decan of Aquarius.
On Tuesday, the Sun departs Aquarius and ingresses into Pisces. This shift marks the final chapter of winter and directs a forward gaze towards the Aries Spring Equinox, but perhaps I am getting ahead of myself, for this Pisces season is going to be extremely Piscean. The Sun will be joining Mercury, Saturn, the N. Node, and Neptune in the mutable water sign. The presence of the N. Node means that, before the Sun’s transit in Pisces is up, we will start experiencing eclipses, which is something to have on your radar.
I’m reminded as well that all of these planets in Pisces are being ruled by Jupiter in Gemini who is saying yes to multiplicity, yes to paradox, and yes to opportunities and possibilities. Planets in Pisces already struggle with focusing, and Jupiter in Gemini might only exacerbate that [is that why it has felt harder to sit still and focus since Mercury entered Pisces?] Jupiter in Gemini can be an exciting but also a potentially anxious kind of energy that may be challenging for planets in sensitive Pisces.
Last week, Mercury played a huge role in the transits by squaring recently stationed Uranus in Taurus and due to its close proximity to the Sun during the Leo Full Moon. This week again, Mercury plays a major role in the transits but this time making aspects from Pisces. On Thursday [Jupiter’s Day], Mercury makes a square to recently stationed direct Jupiter in Gemini, and, as a poet, I just absolutely love the potential for this transit to bring forth a creative play with words and communication. Overall, I think this is an amazing transit because Mercury and Jupiter are in mutual reception [they each rule over the other] which creates so much collaborative potential. The last time Jupiter and Mercury were in mutual reception was when Mercury was in Sagittarius, and interestingly, that was also the last time Mercury stationed retrograde, and then Mercury is going to go retrograde again here soon in Aries but then transit back into Pisces. So I’m very curious to see if any of the themes from the Mercury Retrograde in Sagittarius echo forward through time into this upcoming retrograde.
So although I am looking forward to this transit’s creative potential, it also provides the potential for rambling nonsense - an overabundance of words without any filter! It could get really interesting considering that Mercury’s next aspect is a trine to Mars(Rx) in Cancer on Sunday which typically suggests some kind of inflamed communication and, in the case of these two water signs, inflamed emotions. What makes this transit even more interesting is that later that same day, Mars stations direct in Cancer at 17 degrees, upon which we will all join in a collective sigh of relief. After this week, Mars will finally start to move forward again and we can clean up some of the mess created by that incredibly long and arduous transit.
After Mars stations direct, we will have approximately a week before Venus stations retrograde in Aries. Currently, she is moving through the first decan of Aries and seeking to assert herself which, in terms of your experience, all depends on what kind of relationship you have to assertiveness and aggression.
The Moon this week narrows into her waning crescent phase as she travels through the signs of Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius and Capricorn. The Moon will be highlighting the water trine while moving through Scorpio and will be highlighting the mutable square while traveling through Sagittarius.

A new section of the weekly update sharing artifacts from my previous week and more personal reflections on art and astrology
This week I want to highlight my very very very best friend in the world and artist extraordinaire Zora Lucent:
Zora Lucent is a remarkable example of the creative gifts of Mercury in Pisces <3 Her website describes her music as such:
“Driven by experiences of transformation, catharsis, and the divine through music, Zora offers to guide listeners into watery depths and introspective otherworld. Her music breathes with a opercular tenderness and evanescent liminality - a poetic ushering into deep and numinous realms.”
What a gorgeous description of the Piscean landscape. Please check out her music on Spotify and follow her on socials to catch her performing in New Orleans and Europe.

In addition to shamelessly promoting my friend, I will share with you a photo from my walks through the snow this past week. My focus this past week has been on creating structure and containment for my work to allow for a slowing down and increase in sensual engagement with the natural environment. However, this intention has been challenged by efforts to keep up with various aspects of my life. As I strip further and further into simplicity and containment, I uncover a wellspring of anxiety, pressure, and perhaps even a psychic saboteur is afoot. I am curious what emerges from my silent retreat at the end of the month.
Just as quickly as the snow blanketed Portland, the rain came and melted it into slosh. Oh, why is grief so relentless! When I reach out my hands to catch the drifting snow, it melts instantly upon the heat of my skin. Every experience is sorrow.
